OMENAR — CLERIC SUBCLASS / DIVINE DOMAIN

Omenar — Cleric Subclass / Divine Domain

Salorras Paragon: Omenar · Path: Apostle (Cleric) · Patron: the Ominous Three (the Threefold Testament) · Subclass type: Cleric Divine Domain, chosen at 3rd level

It is said that Adorys, in a moment of mercy and with the consent of the rest of the Triptych — Aalokye and Othrax — gifted the people of Asmeda the anointment of the legatees. For ages legatees led great hosts and established humanity across western Asmeda; that leading power faded in many cultures, but never in Kyrdis. The Omenars are priests who carry the legatee anointment in their blood — perhaps the greatest gift a priest of the Ominous Three can receive, for a central tenet of the doctrine is the advancement and perfection of the humanoid peoples. In a theocracy ruled through legatees, the Omenars are anything but a minor power.

Anointed by the Patriarchate of the city-state of Kyrdis, the Omenars embody the harshest of the three faces of the Threefold Testament — that of Omen. They act as the hand of justice of the theocratic regime, imposing order and suppressing outbreaks of uncontrolled mystical magic within the city-state’s borders. Omenars are masters of war: they wield the magic of their gods, and in the fiction also the powers of the legatees, marrying spellcraft to essence-power so they can channel divine magic outward as a wave.

Becoming an Omenar (roleplay, not a mechanical prerequisite)

You choose this domain at 3rd level with no in-game prerequisites. In the fiction an Omenar must receive the consent and blessing of the Patriarch of the Threefold Testament, and bears the legatee bloodline.

Note on the legatee half. The canonical Omenar is also a legatee (essencer). The legatee is its own essencer class (see the Legatee path). An Omenar character is therefore a Cleric (Omenar) who may multiclass into Legatee to represent the essence-blood; the Divine Essence feature below already captures the signature “fuse magic and essence, release it as a wave” at the Cleric level, so the legatee multiclass is a flavorful option rather than a requirement.

The Three Faces

At 3rd level, choose the face of the Threefold Testament you serve. Your choice sets your Omen Domain Spells and shapes your Hand of the Testament (6th) and Avatar of the Omen (17th) features.

6Hand of the Testament

Level 3 — Anointed of the Omen

As a battle-priest of the Threefold Testament, you gain proficiency with Martial weapons and training with Heavy armor. You are also a reader of omens: you can cast Augury without expending a spell slot a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once), regaining all uses on a Long Rest.

Level 3 — Channel Divinity: Divine Essence

You fuse divine magic with the quintessence of the essences and unleash it as a wave. As a Magic action, expend one use of Channel Divinity and cast one Cleric spell you have prepared that has a casting time of an action and that targets one or more creatures (such as a buff, a control effect, or a healing spell). You still expend the spell’s slot. Instead of its normal range and targets, the spell affects each creature of your choice within 60 feet of you — you decide whether it strikes your enemies, your allies, or both. The spell’s level, save DC, and effects are otherwise unchanged.

Level 6 — Hand of the Testament

Your bond with your chosen face deepens.

  • Domination (Adorys). Once on each of your turns, when a creature within 60 feet fails a saving throw against one of your spells, it also can’t take Reactions until the end of its next turn. When you cast Command, you can target one additional creature.
  • Healing (Aalokye). When you cast a spell that restores Hit Points, one target of the spell regains additional Hit Points equal to your Cleric level. You can grant this bonus only once per turn.
  • Time (Othrax). You have Advantage on Initiative rolls, you can’t be Slowed, and your Speed can’t be reduced against your will. Once per Short or Long Rest, you can take the Dash, Disengage, or Dodge action as a Bonus Action.

Level 17 — Avatar of the Omen

You become the living will of the Ominous Three. When you use Divine Essence, its wave reaches 120 feet, and if the spell released was 5th level or lower, you regain the expended use of Channel Divinity. In addition, you gain the capstone of your face:

  • Domination. Once per Long Rest, you can cast Dominate Person or Mass Suggestion without expending a spell slot.
  • Healing. When a creature you can see within 60 feet is reduced to 0 Hit Points but not killed outright, you can use your Reaction to restore it to half its Hit Point maximum. Once per Long Rest.
  • Time. Once per Long Rest, as a Bonus Action you seize a stolen moment, taking one additional turn immediately after your current one (you can’t use this again until you finish a Long Rest).

Falling from Grace (Ex-Omenar)

An Omenar who flagrantly violates the doctrine — acting against the will of their god — loses their divine spells and the Divine Essence feature until they atone, as a story beat at the table’s discretion.

Ability Note

The Omenar is a Wisdom caster like any Cleric, leaning on Strength or Dexterity for its martial role. A character representing the legatee blood may add Legatee levels (Charisma).
